On My Piano

By Salvatore Donato

on my piano

there is a cup of coffee

a picture of my little brother

on the day (of his)

First Holy Communion

the weight of all of the love

from my father

he plays the piano with one hand on the keys

&

one hand on the wall

standing up

like he only has ten seconds

for music

and i love him all the same

***

on the day (of my)

First Holy Communion

i was blessed with the sacrament

shaped into the mold of Jesus

with one hand on the Bible

&

one hand on the wall

standing up

like i only had ten seconds

for Him

and he loves me all the same
