8:07 AM, with coffee

By Melanie Rose Huff

What heals the world?
A word, a whisper
A kiss
A brew of hot water
and a few magic beans
A tiny flower, growing
from a pavement crack
A moment that is everything
And yet maybe nothing more
than a spark
or a sigh
or a drifting dandelion seed
Yet somehow bigger
than many larger things
As an aria is infinitely greater
than an explosion

Melanie Rose Huff began writing in childhood. She has published two collections of poetry in collaboration with illustrator Traci Manley. She is also a dancer and choreographer with Vytal Movement Dance of Spokane, Washington.
