Iguana on a Rock

By John Grey

Frozen head,

unblinking eyes,

breathless body,

yet suddenly

a tongue

darts from

its mouth

full throttle,

zaps a fly.

Fate can intervene

unexpectedly and deadly

any time.

The iguana makes

that plain enough.
