Later on at the party,
Near some lah tee da silk pajamaed ladies,
Extra flaxen and laughing more than what was called for,
Typical characters at this type of gathering,
We were honored with a festive sparkling of favors,
The everything just so, designs put in place.
The romance of the So glad you could make it decorations.
The string of lights
In the summerhouse patios,
Gardenias in potted plants and large vases with fresh flowers, flowers
And other unbelievable passions
Near the wall sized see-through aquarium.
Overwhelming for a few hours,
But how we enjoyed ourselves,
Kind of a gig, really.
They couldn’t get enough of our harmonizing voices.
Realizing a crush on so and so
In innocence, in imagination of affection or something,
You fell deeper, deeper than Neptune’s blue basin
In love.
Not with someone, but with wherever
That sweet spot of summer drums off to.
Earlier you had waited for me to get ready,
While I was splashing on a dash of 4711, the old classic Cologne Wasser,
Did I mention my German Club trip to Deutschland?
Sashaying in with a new, paisley, twirly skirt
Stealing a minute or seven
Spinning an old, stellar vinyl,
Feeling spectacular.
Even earlier,
Following the bliss of grateful sleep,
Coffeetime on the back porch!
Near our lookout with the jungle like gardens, grown in patience.
Happy contented plans.
Sometime in the afternoon,
After a lovely walk down a sideways laneway
Down the fresh air of deep woods on sandy earth the color of beige enshrined,
There was an ahh plunge into an aqua pool with hot tub jets.
Felt almost stoned via hydro therapy.
And later,
The best part~
We saw the kids,
Shared the fun slip and slide get together of summertime,
In the dear, white-headed eyes of their youth,
Sang them a short, harmonizing ditty
With a kind of embarrassing glee.
I thought about what grand folks memories
Would follow them the rest of their lives,
From deep voiced Grumps always teaching them something new
And silly Grammy with the green eyes.
I started reflecting a reckoning
A hidden hush came to call
That time thing
Settled into my heart.
But what a warm swathe!
Might’ve been cashmere or velveteen,
Fashioned with some all-weather sweetness and light.
Cuddling our best lives.
Love from the fireside~
A big wave.
