Flight

By Jack Forbes

gliding over the white soil of cloud

the plane seems to idle

in a blue void

until it descends

beneath the weightless ground

into stark dawn

where a new, anxious sun

peeks over the skyline

like a child’s eye

having found

its lost toy.
