Desert

By Bethany Riddle

Embrace

the desert.

Embrace

the dry.

The tumbleweeds and animals that scurry across the land.

Embrace the rolling hills that bloom in spring.

Green fields for miles

dotted –

with tiny flowers of pinks, purples, and blues.

Embrace the brown that slowly takes over,

as water is scarce and a blistering sun scorches the earth.

Embrace the openness, the beauty, the heat.

The changes that come as each season turns.
